2010 grid: places to take

Mercedes GP
The team that raised the most questions and speculations over the winter. After being bought 75% by Mercedes, the Brackley team saw its world champion, Jenson Button, leave for McLaren. Nico Rosberg was then made official, before the probable arrival of Michael Schumacher doesn't make more and more noise. The day before Christmas, the return of the seven-time world champion F1 has been confirmed. A 100% German duo for the team of the star brand.

Red Bull
No doubt : Mark Webber et Sebastian Vettel were confirmed last summer for next season. The two drivers won six victories between them in 2010.

McLaren
After various speculations on the identity of the teammate of Lewis Hamilton, It is Jenson Button, the reigning World Champion, who has decided to join the Woking team. Martin Whitmarsh will have the last two World Champions at his disposal.

Ferrari
Fernando Alonso et Felipe Massa will be teammates in 2010. The only question concerned Kimi Räikkönen who was ousted from the Scuderia to make way for the Spanish champion. The Finn found refuge in WRC in the Citroën Racing team where he will compete in 12 of the 13 rounds of the 2010 season.

Clean
After being accepted to take part in the 2010 World Championship, Peter Sauber focused his efforts on finding his driver duo. If Nick Heidfeld or Vitaly Petrov were considered, it would be Kamui Kobayashi which was the first official pilot. He should team up with Pedro de la Rosa, according to the Swiss press. Even if he denied it, the experienced Spaniard could correspond to the profile sought by Peter Sauber. Finally, according to the Belgian press, Bertrand Baguette should occupy the seat of reserve driver.

Williams
The team quickly formalized its driver duo for 2010. Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima gave way to Rubens Barrichello, third in the 2009 championship with Brawn GP, and Nico Hulkenberg, third Williams driver and GP2 Series champion in 2009.

Renault
If the team has sold part of its capital to a Luxembourg company, Genii Capital, the Renault name will continue in F1 for the next two seasons. Robert Kubica, quickly made official after the departure of Fernando Alonso, should be faithful to the team?enstone, according to his agent Daniel Morelli. But his teammate is still not known. Franck Montagny seems to have given up, unlike Romain Grosjean, who still hopes to be reappointed. He would be in competition with Nick Heidfeld, an experienced driver who has not found refuge at Mercedes and does not seem to be a priority at Sauber. The names of Ho-Pin Tung and especially Jérôme d?Ambrosio were recently mentioned, more for the seat of the reserve driver.

Force India
The drivers at the end of the 2009 season, Adrian Sutil et Vitantonio Liuzzi, have both been confirmed for 2010. The pair will therefore team up again. Paul di Resta or JR Hildebrand should occupy one of the two reserve seats.

Toro Rosso
Sébastien Buemi has been confirmed in his position for a second season with Red Bull's sister team. Confirmation of the signing of Jaime Alguersuari is slow in coming but the Spaniard should be part of the Faenza team, unless Red Bull decides to promote Daniel Ricciardo, amazing at the Jerez rookie tests at the beginning of December.

Campos Meta
Of the four new teams, it is the first to have formalized a driver, and not the least. The Spanish team will start with Bruno senna, nephew of three-time world champion Ayrton Senna. If the track leading to Pedro De la Rosa seemed the most successful, the Spaniard could join Sauber. Pastor Maldonado who is “supported by Venezuela” – according to José Ramón Carabante, the president of the entity – and Vitaly Petrov “who has a market like Russia which is opening up to Formula 1 behind him” are expected to be the Campos adventure.

USF1
This is the biggest vagueness that prevails regarding the American team. If the latter wanted to reaffirm its desire to be at the start of the 2010 season, the driver duo is not yet known. The Argentinian Jose Maria Lopez seems to have a head start to occupy one of the two seats but confirmation of his arrival is slow in coming.

Virgin racing
During an official presentation on Tuesday December 15 in London, the team made its driver duo official. If Timo Glock, former pilot Toyota, avait déjà rejoint le team britannique quelques semaines plus tôt, Lucas di Grassi was made official. To accompany the two men, Alvaro Parente and Luiz Razia were named reserve drivers.

Lotus F1
Lotus F1 made the name of its driver duo for next season official in mid-December: Jarno Trulli et Heikki Kovalainen. The Italian had been expected for many weeks to join Tony Fernandes' team while the Finn found refuge in the Malaysian team after being replaced by Jenson Button at McLaren.
