2010 grid: overview

Mercedes GP
This is the team that raises the most questions. After the officialization of the arrival of Nico Rosberg from home Williams, we still do not know the name of his future teammate. What is still relevant is Mercedes' desire to form a 100 percent German crew in 2010. If Nick Heidfeld seemed to hold the rope some time ago, the rumors concerning the arrival of Michael Schumacher sowed discord. Each day that passes brings its share of twists and turns within the silver house and the seven-time World Champion still does not deny. Will he decide to take the plunge and come back F1 ? Many transfers depend on this.

Red Bull
No doubt : Mark Webber et Sebastian Vettel were confirmed last summer for next season. The two drivers have won six victories between them this season.

McLaren
After various speculations on the identity of the teammate of Lewis Hamilton, it is finally Jenson Button, the reigning World Champion, who has decided to join the Woking team. Martin Whitmarsh will have the last two World Champions at his disposal.

Ferrari
Fernando Alonso et Felipe Massa will be teammates in 2010. The only question concerned Kimi Räikkönen who was ousted from the Scuderia to make way for the Spanish champion. The Finn found refuge in WRC in the Citroën Racing team where he will compete in 12 of the 13 rounds of the 2010 season.

Clean
After being accepted to take part in the 2010 World Championship, Peter Sauber will now concentrate his efforts on finding his driver duo. “ I won't give you names but I can tell you that we will have an experienced pilot and another from the new generation », he declared at the beginning of December to the SID agency. Many names are circulating to join the Hinwill stable such as Nick Heidfeld, Vitaly Petrov, Pedro de la Rosa or Kamui Kobayashi. Finally, according to the Belgian press, Bertrand Baguette should occupy the seat of reserve driver, unless he is offered a starting position.

Williams
The team has formalized its driver duo for 2010. Nico Rosberg changes team, Kazuki Nakajima is ousted. As a replacement, the Grove team called on the veteran of the field, Rubens Barrichello. The Brazilian will team up with Nico Hulkenberg, third driver at Williams this season and GP2 Series champion in September.

Renault
The big question of the moment concerning the Renault F1 team does not concern the name of the driver who will accompany Robert Kubica in 2010 but that of the future owner of the stable. The French team should in fact reveal on Wednesday the identity of the buyer of the chassis entity of?enstone. To accompany the Pole, Romain Grosjean could keep his seat. Franck Montagny is also in the running, as is Kamui Kobayashi and Nick Heidfeld.

Force India
The drivers at the end of the 2009 season, Adrian Sutil et Vitantonio Liuzzi, have both been confirmed for 2010. The pair will therefore team up again. Paul di Resta or JR Hildebrand should occupy one of the two reserve seats.

Toro Rosso
Sébastien Buemi has been confirmed in his position for a second season with Red Bull's sister team. Confirmation of the signing of Jaime Alguersuari is slow in coming but the Spaniard should be part of the Faenza team.

Campos Meta
Of the four new teams, it is the first to have formalized a driver, and not the least. The Spanish team will start with Bruno senna, nephew of three-time world champion Ayrton Senna. To support the driver, the Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa could do the trick if he manages to find a few sponsors. “ There is a possibility that the remaining seat will be for a Spanish driver. For us, it would be a dream for him to return to Pedro de La Rosa. Moreover, the negotiations with Pedro have never stopped », Explained José Ramón Carabante, the president of the entity. If the De la Rosa track failed, Pastor Maldonado who is “ supported by Venezuela » and Vitaly Petrov « which has a market like Russia which is opening up to Formula 1 behind it » are expected to be part of the Campos adventure.

USF1
This is the biggest vagueness that prevails regarding the American team. The Argentinian Jose Maria Lopez seems to have a head start to occupy one of the two seats but confirmation of his arrival is slow in coming. For the other steering wheel, Pedro de la Rosa is at the top of the list, in which we also find Jacques Villeneuve, Franck Montagny?

Virgin racing
During an official presentation on Tuesday December 15 in London, the team made its driver duo official. If Timo Glock, former pilot Toyota, had already joined the British team a few weeks ago, the name of his teammate Lucas di Grassi was revealed today. To accompany the two men, Alvaro Parente and Luiz Razia were named reserve drivers.

Lotus F1
Lotus F1 has made the name of its driver duo official for next season: Jarno Trulli et Heikki Kovalainen. The Italian had been expected for many weeks to join Tony Fernandes' team while the Finn found refuge in the Malaysian team after being replaced by Jenson Button at McLaren.
