Grosjean kept alongside Magnussen at Haas in 2020

Guenther Steiner had promised an announcement before Singapore: Haas kept his word. The US team announced this Thursday afternoon in Singapore that Romain Grosjean would be kept alongside Kevin Magnussen in 2020. 

The two men have been teaming up since 2017, the Frenchman having been present since the team's beginnings in F1 during the 2016 season. If Magnussen had a formal contract for 2020, Grosjean only had one option. Haas finally decided to activate it while the profile of Nico Hulkenberg, ousted from Renault, seemed to please Steiner. 

« We have always made experience one of the foundations of the Haas F1 Team, declared the team principal. By retaining Romain and Kevin in 2020, we have a solid platform to continue our growth. 

They know how the team works and we know their talent behind the wheel. They provide us with valuable stability and a solid foundation to continue building the team. 2019 is a complicated season due to variations in the performance of our VF-19 but we will be able to rely on our respective experiences to progress and move forward in 2020 ».

With 157 Grand Prix starts for 10 podiums before this weekend, Grosjean is therefore certain to compete in a 10th season in the premier category. 

« I have always said that I wanted to continue with Haas and grow the team, added Grosjean. I am very happy to continue an adventure in which I have been part of from the beginning alongside Guenther Steiner and Gene Haas. We struggled this season but we will use our experience to bounce back in 2020 ». 

Haas currently occupies 9th place in the Manufacturers' standings with 26 points.
