Grosjean keeps podium in sight in Brazil

Romain Grosjean adopted the best strategy by quickly choosing intermediate tires to compete in Q3 at the Brazilian Grand Prix. But the competition also had time to return to the pits to put on intermediate tires. The Lotus driver is ultimately only in sixth position on the grid, more than a second behind pole position. Sebastian Vettel. “It was a difficult session where it was very hard to choose which tire we should use for the last qualifying session. We were aiming for pole going up the intermediates, but there was probably still a bit too much water and that's what made things interesting. My lap wasn't good enough, but the car was competitive throughout the weekend and we are confident for the race, whatever the weather. »

Lotus does indeed seem to have found a boost in performance in wet conditions, but the E21 mainly reveals its qualities in the dry. If the forecasts announce the risk of showers for the race, the teamenstone in any case does not seem worried. “We have ridden a lot in the wet but never in the dry and we would be in a bit of an unknown. This could give us an advantage. We obviously never know what Red Bull is able to do so under these conditions. I think we are faster than Ferrari and we often have the advantage over Mercedes in the race, so even if we are not very well placed on the grid, the podium clearly remains the objective. »

The start of the Brazilian Grand Prix will be at 17 p.m. Paris time and will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr. Photos of the tests can be found on this link.
