Grosjean: “There was nothing to do”

The start of the season Romain Grosjean seems to be going from bad to worse. The pilot Haas suffered a second consecutive retirement at the Spanish GP when he spun in turn 3 on the first lap.

“I lost my rear end when I was destabilized by the car of Magnussen to which I returned. I thought I could get the car back by accelerating, but there was nothing I could do. I don't think things would have happened any differently if I had braked instead of accelerated." explained the 2011 GP2 Series champion.

Romain Grosjean must now bounce back after a difficult start to the season where he still has no points on the clock. The Haas driver suffered a third retirement in five races.

“There will be other races, put Gene Haas, the owner of the team of the same name, into perspective. I am sorry for Renault et Toro Rosso who saw a car from their team abandon because of our accident. There are ups and downs in motorsport, it was a bad day for us. »

Romain Grosjean's accident also ended his compatriot's race Pierre Gasly as well as Nico Hulkenberg who were unable to avoid the VF18 in distress on the track.

The commissioners finally decided to penalize the Frenchman by three places on the Monaco GP grid.
