Grosjean: Chinese GP could prove very difficult

Romain Grosjean hopes to realize the potential of Haas VF17 at the Chinese GP contested this weekend after a double retirement by the American team in Melbourne (Australia). The former GP2 Series champion will be able to count on the performance of his mount and his experience of the Shanghai circuit.

“Shanghai is a difficult circuit because it is very different from what we encounter at the start of the year, commented Romain Grosjean. The car should run well with the front wheels. If it doesn't work well, it can become very difficult. Overtaking is not impossible in Shanghai, there is a long straight where DRS can be used to attack. »

“In general, if the car is good in qualifying, the race should go well. Otherwise, the race can be complicated. A top ten in qualifying bodes well for points”, underlined Romain Grosjean.

The difference at the start

Romain Grosjean focuses particularly on the first corner where positions are easiest to gain.

“I love the first corner because it’s a tricky section that you take hard before downshifting to 2nd to finish it. It's quite long and you can tell the difference. The next sector with the straight and the long right turn is important because there is a 1,5km straight that follows. We need to be on the accelerator as quickly as possible.”, explained Romain Grosjean.

Romain Grosjean remains in 19th place acquired last year with Haas F1 Team. His best result was a 6th position in 2012 with Lotus F1 Team.
