Grosjean: “We can be satisfied with our position”

As in Australia at the start of the season, Romain Grosjean was the fastest behind the Mercedes, Ferrari and other Red Bull, major trio of the F1. Beaten by two tenths by Pierre Gasly, Grosjean felt he could have been closer to his compatriot in different conditions.

It is above all the gap opened up with the competitors of Haas F1 Team in the peloton that the former Lotus F1 Team driver prefers to take up, with more than six tenths of a margin on the Toro Rosso by Daniil Kvyat.

“It’s impressive, especially since all the teams know this track very well, continues the driver of the American team. We can be satisfied with our position. »

On the other hand, Romain Grosjean does not have too many illusions regarding the race, not counting on seeing his VF19 show up in the race to worry the Red Bulls.

“They will probably escape, Grosjean bets. It would be a good result for the team if we manage to keep this position. We saw yesterday that some teams behind like McLaren have a good pace going into the race, Toro Rosso is still fast, but on Friday they probably have less fuel.

I didn't go into detail about who was faster or not. We are happy with the balance of the car, we have improved since yesterday. We have a good place in the hierarchy in my opinion. »
