Romain Grosjean set the 8th fastest time in Q3 at the Malaysian GP, contested on a wet track where conditions changed following the downpour that fell during the session. The Frenchman only had one attempt after starting with rain tires that were less efficient than the medium ones.
“It was a prudent choice... We then took the intermediate tires, but I did not have time to finish my lap and I had to return to the pits”, explained the Lotus driver. “I only had one chance to qualify but I made it. »
The ace, Romain Grosjean received a two-place penalty for an infringement in the pits and will only start from 10th place behind the Williams de Valtteri Bottas and the Sauber of Marcus Ericsson. The French driver returned to the queue too early in relation to the entry order. His teammate Pastor Maldonado will start from 12th row.
