Grosjean takes ten places for the Canadian GP

Romain Grosjean yet had a nice burst of speed in the streets of the Principality. But the Lotus driver accumulated errors at the Monaco Grand Prix. An accident during free practice at the Sainte-Dévote corner had already almost cost him qualifying. This session did not please the Frenchman since he only qualified in 13th position on the grid. The French driver then got stuck in traffic in 14th place before attempting a maneuver on Daniel Ricciardo at the exit of the Tunnel.

But the Lotus driver crashed into the Toro Rosso from the Australian, forcing both drivers to retire. If the former GP2 Series champion explained that Daniel Ricciardo had braked in advance, the driver of the teamenstone was still held responsible for the accident by the commissioners. The latter decided to impose a ten-place penalty on him in the next Canadian Grand Prix on June 9.

Lotus F1 Team experienced a very complicated weekend since Kimi Räikkönen suffered a puncture after hitting Sergio Pérez at the exit of the Tunnel. The Finn saved a tenth place finish at the last minute at the cost of a sensational finish, but Iceman is now 21 points behind the Championship leader. Sebastian Vettel who took second place.
