Grosjean comes a long way at Silverstone

Romain Grosjean hoped to play at the front even if he only started from ninth place on the Silverstone grid after missing Q3 following an exit from the track. But the Frenchman clashed on the first lap with Paul di Resta and had to return to the pits to change his front wing while the 2010 champion of DTM retired after damaging his VJM05 following a puncture. The Lotus driver did not express any animosity towards the Scot but spoke of a simple racing incident. “The situation was a bit confusing in turns 3 and 4 and I was on the outside of turn 3. The Force India came inside and hit my front wing with its rear wheel. It was unfortunate but there's not much you can do in these types of situations. The best thing to do is to start from pole or second place and it will be easier in the corners. »

Despite his collision at the start of the race which caused the Lotus E20 to fall to the bottom of the standings, Romain Grosjean was able to make a good comeback by only stopping halfway through the race to grab sixth place just behind his teammate Kimi Raikkonen. “The result itself is not fantastic, but the way the race went, going from 22nd to sixth position is very satisfying. Getting into the points after a wing change is pretty incredible, but the team has done a really good job giving me an absolutely fantastic car. The one-stop strategy in the middle of the race was quite risky, but it worked well, and I was able to enjoy some good fights on track with Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. »
