Grosjean signs his best qualification in three years

Saturday evening, in the paddock of Red Bull Ring (Austria), Romain Grosjean (Haas) had a smile. The Frenchman has still not scored a point in 2018, however the driver of the American team delivered a perfect copy during testing for the Austrian Grand Prix.

Once fourth in Q3, Romain Grosjean slipped to sixth after Kimi Räikkönen's second attempt (Ferrari) and the Red Bull of Max Verstappen. A great performance which transformed into fifth place after the application of the penalty for Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari)!

This is the best position on the grid for the tricolor since Canada in 2015. “It’s quite extraordinary to be among the Red Bulls, especially on their circuit, he admitted. We managed to save two sets of tires for Q3, which allowed us to have fun. »

Romain Grosjean thus exceeds its objective of “seventh or eighth position” announced the day before. “Everything worked out for the best. The balance of the car was great. It's also great to see Kevin (Magnussen, his teammate) in eighth place. »

From now on, Romain Grosjean only wants one thing: a quiet race to finally kick off his year. “What we need is a quiet race, a bit in the middle of no man's land. I know it's not very exciting for the fans but it's what we need »he concludes.
