Grosjean wants to convince in Melbourne

The 2012 Australian Grand Prix alone sums up the first season of Romain Grosjean. The 2011 GP2 champion made a brilliant return to the discipline by taking third place on the starting grid in Melbourne but saw his hopes go up in smoke following a contact forcing him to retire. The Frenchman only finally won his first points at the Chinese Grand Prix following another retirement at Sepang. Building on this experience and eager to confirm his potential, the French driver has high hopes with his new mount at the end of winter testing. “We are ready for Albert Park, it’s one of my favorite Grands Prix”, he recalled on the official website of the F1. “I have a lot more experience than at the same time last year and I'm looking forward to this new season. I will try to translate all the efforts made with the team into good performances on the track. I feel much more comfortable heading into this season. We had ups and downs last year and the idea is now to combine speed and consistency in all the races. »

Romain Grosjean also seems more comfortable within the Lotus F1 Team since the teamenstone renewed its confidence by extending the Frenchman's contract. The latter had already indicated that he would concentrate less on his teammate Kimi Räikkönen, which could have disturbed him at times last year. “I think several consecutive seasons are beneficial for two reasons in any discipline. The first concerns the piloting itself. We start a season already knowing the circuits, the cars, how a race weekend works and what to do and what not to do. There is also continuity in the team which is another important point. We will already know the settings I chose last year and we will be able to work on those bases. All our engineers have stayed and the way of working on data remains the same. I also had the chance during the tests to ride with the Kimi engineers and this experience was very beneficial. We are a team and we work together, we hide nothing from each other. »
