Grosjean on the right course in Sochi

Romain Grosjean successfully qualified by taking 8th position on the grid for the Russian GP, taking advantage of the penalty Max Verstappen (Red Bull). The pilot Haas was able to quickly find his bearings behind the wheel of his car after a change in conditions.

“Qualifying wasn't easy. We suffered in Q1 with a very different balance compared to the one we had in FP3. The wind strengthened and it became very complicated in the 2nd sector. It would almost have been necessary to have an adjustable front wing to configure it according to the turns”, commented the Frenchman.

“We found the keys to qualify. We also had pressure in Q2 because my first attempt was not good enough. In the end, I think we achieved the best result within our reach.", underlined the former GP2 champion.

Romain Grosjean must now hope to translate this good result into points, he who has not finished in the Top 10 since the German GP.

“Our race pace wasn't bad. We hope that the weather will remain cloudy because we were not helped in qualifying by the warming of the track. We know our limits and we are aware that we sometimes face insoluble problems”, did he declare.

His teammate Kevin Magnussen did not have the same success since he only took 14th position, 13th place with the penalty of Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso).

“I rode well in Q1 but I missed out on Q2 by losing 7 or 8 tenths”, indicated the Dane.

Haas will have to have a good race in Sochi to get back on track. Alfa Romeo which is ahead of the 9th team in the championship by 9 points.
