Grosjean: “A miscalculation” in India

Romain Grosjean could look gloomy at the end of qualifying for the Indian Grand Prix. After setting promising times during free practice, the Lotus driver only took 17th position on the grid following a poor strategy. The British team wanted to take advantage of the Frenchman's potential to try to qualify him in Q2 with white wall tires. “We tried to leave with just one lap on medium tires in Q1. But while that had proven to be a good strategy for us recently, it didn't work this time. Times were much tighter than expected and we made a miscalculation. It's easy to look back and think about what would have been a good thing to do, but we made that decision together and unfortunately it was the wrong one. »

If the former GP2 Series champion can hope to gain positions by taking advantage of the different strategies put in place, the Lotus driver remains pessimistic about his potential for a good result. “It's hard to overtake here and the race risks being long starting from 17th position. We need to put something special in place with the strategy, but we will obviously evaluate our options tonight. It is certain that I will not be in the lead at the first corner this time, but we will do our best. »
