Gutiérrez escapes punishment

Esteban Gutiérrez did not receive any sanction despite the terrible accident with Fernando Alonso at the Australian Grand Prix. The pilot Haas was hit by the McLaren of the Spaniard after having slightly modified his trajectory when braking at turn 3 at Albert Park. The double world champion then rolled over at full speed.

The commissioners who studied the accident considered that this collision was a racing event, concluding that “no pilot was to blame”.

This decision corresponds to About the two pilots. Esteban Gutiérrez assured that he had stayed on his line while Fernando Alonso judged that the Haas driver was not at fault.
