Haas with two rookies in 2021?

Place your bets, everything is open at Haas. The American team, which entered into 1 formula until 2025, has not yet chosen its line-up for 2021 and no possibility has been ruled out. At least according to Günther Steiner.

“We look at all the drivers, we haven’t made our decision. And I'm not trying to throw a punch. We just signed the Concorde Agreement and I haven't spoken with Gene (Haas) about the pilots yet." said the Haas team principal.

“I want his input in choosing the drivers. It will come as soon as he can travel to a race. We can discuss. But for the moment, everything is on the table, from keeping the drivers we have to hiring two rookies. If you want the seat, you can apply. »

If he remains evasive, we understand that Kevin Magnussen et Romain Grosjean are far from having assured their future in Formula 1. The two drivers, without a contract for next year, are almost part of the furniture at Haas, since they are respectively completing their fourth and fifth season with the American team. The duo recently expressed their desire to extend and begin discussions with Haas bosses.

On the sidelines of the Concorde Agreements, Gene Haas and Günther Steiner could want to breathe new life into the team. We are talking about Nico Hulkenberg or Sergio Perez in the event of changes at Racing Point.

But Haas, which has very strong links with Ferrari, is also eyeing the youth protected by the Team. Günther Steiner also highlighted the talent of Russian Robert Shwartzman, second in the championship of Formula 2.

Mick Schumacher, son of Michael, is also a candidate. Fifth in F2, the Ferrari junior driver is favored by the Scuderia who want to see him in Formula 1 quickly. “F1 is the logical next step for him, but in a team smaller than ours, obviously, so that he can practice his skills”declared Mattia Binotto, the boss of the Reds.

Si Alfa Romeo seems the logical destination due to its proximity to Ferrari, Haas can also accommodate it.

In short, bets are off on the Haas line-up in 2021, at least until the next appearance of Gene Haas at a grand prix.
