Haas F1 Team apprehends Hockenheim

The Haas VF18 have shown great qualities this season, notably displaying good performances on high-speed circuits. On the other hand, the American single-seaters have a little more difficulty on the slower tracks.

However, it is this last type of route that Haas will encounter F1 Team this weekend by returning to the Hockenheim circuit where it failed to enter the points in 2016.

“We are a little worried because the tight Hockenheim sector is very slow, comments Team Principal Günther Steiner. Certainly the car is more competitive in fast corners, it actually performs very well in those situations. We struggled on the slower speed tracks. We will see what we can do on Friday in terms of settings to limit the car's weaknesses in the slow sectors. »

If the Haas VF18 is more comfortable on fast sections, it is above all due to the technical choices made by the team.

“Most races are not run at low speeds. Our aero department therefore does not really focus on that but rather on the tracks that we frequently encounter. The car is therefore more suited to fast corners”, adds the director of the Haas team.

Haas F1 Team is currently fighting for fourth place in the Championship occupied by Renault which has a 19-point lead over the American team, but the latter is also threatened by Force India and McLaren which are only a few units before the German GP.
