Haas F1 Team lags behind in Shanghai

After a very successful debut, both in Melbourne and Bahrain, Haas F1 Team showed less enthusiasm this morning for the first two driving sessions in China in Shanghai. If Romain Grosjean did not experience mechanical problems equivalent to those of Esteban Gutierrez, the Frenchman admits to having experienced a complicated introduction to Asia.

“We tried the new front wing, and the track is very difficult to understand, explains the former Lotus driver. We couldn't get everything to work properly. The car is very difficult to drive.

It's going to be a long night for the guys trying to analyze what we could improve for tomorrow. We are nowhere near where we think we could be. Today, being a new team and not having data from previous years works against us. We've tried different things, but nothing seems to be the solution at the moment. »

For Gutiérrez, the observation is more "serious" since problems with the gearbox sensor in FP1 and a brake problem in FP2 (with flames escaping from his car), considerably reduced the Mexican's track time.
