Haas F1 Team was prepared for worse debut

With 281 laps completed by Romain Grosjean and Esteban Gutiérrez on the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona (Spain) driving the VF-16, Haas F1 Team is satisfied with the results of these first four days of testing. The American team was even able to carry out a race simulation on the last day.

“We are pleased with the progress made. We didn’t expect to cover such a distance.”, commented Günther Steiner, Team Principal of Haas F1 Team, on the official F1 website. “We have a list of things to fix… but it’s not like we’re like, ‘How are we going to fix this? » We obviously would have liked to have even fewer problems, but we thought we would drive less. »

The Haas F1 Team program was notably disrupted by the breakage of the front wing during the first day when Romain Grosjean was at the wheel. “It wasn’t pleasant to experience, but I remain positive because the team reacted very well. We found a solution and we were able to get back on the track in the afternoon. We took measurements and we could resume testing at full power the next day.”, specified the former technical director of Red Bull Racing.
