The affair came to light behind the scenes of the paddock at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi last weekend, during the final of the 2018 season.
Haas F1 Team initially lodged a complaint against Racing Point Force India, arguing that the structure now owned by Lawrence Stroll could not be recognized as a manufacturer in its own right, having not produced the parts listed in appendix 6 of the sporting regulations (bar, survival cell, monocoque, fins, flat bottom, etc.)
But the panel of stewards rendered a verdict last Saturday in favor of Racing Point Force India, not judging Haas F1 Team's claim to be valid. The Gene Haas team then indicated its desire to appeal the decision, but finally this Wednesday, on the sidelines of the last day of Pirelli tire testing in Abu Dhabi, the American team published a brief tweet specifying that it would not will not appeal.
