Team Haas will bet on Pietro Fittipaldi as a replacement for Nikita mazepin during tests of Formula 1 pre-season 2022 in Bahrain (March 10-12). This is what the Associated Press (AP) announced in information published on Sunday evening, March 7.

On the sidelines of the race Nascar taking place in Las Vegas (Nevada), Gene Haas, the founder of the eponymous team, confirmed that the 25-year-old Brazilian will take his place in the seat of the Haas VF-22 on the Sakhir circuit alternating with Mick Schumacher, established for the 2022 season.

However, if the role of Emerson Fittipaldi's grandson is clear (test driver), nothing indicates at the moment that the reservist, author of two Grand Prix starts following the accident of Romain Grosjean in Bahrain at the end of 2020, will be established.

“We are looking for (a second driver), Gene Haas told AP. We would obviously like to take someone with a little more experience. We just have to look at what is feasible. »

Other candidates include former Rep. Alfa Romeo Antonio Giovinazzi, the winner of the Formula 2 Oscar piastri or the Indian Jehan Daruvala.
