Haas: Grosjean and Gutiérrez are complementary

Haas F1 Team only has a few weeks before embarking on the F1 adventure with the start of winter testing scheduled for February 22 in Barcelona (Spain). The American team seems to have optimized its preparation by partnering with Ferrari who will provide it with its Power Units. Gene Haas is also banking on his drivers who will display diverse skills while offering complementarity.

“Gutiérrez was a Ferrari test driver (after two starting seasons at Sauber in 2013 and 2014). He is used to simulators and Ferrari equipment. He also drove some Ferrari single-seaters”, noted the American businessman on Sports Business Daily.

« Grosjean is currently the starter and he will be a little more accustomed to the circuits, the needs and the tire strategies. We do not yet have his knowledge. Teams accumulate data, race after race, year after year, and study it. We don't have any and we have to create them. This is where Romain will have an advantage. Gutiérrez will have an advantage in the equipment he is used to. These two drivers will complement each other and give us a better package.”, underlined Gene Haas.

Haas F1 Team has still not designated a reserve driver, but the idea is not definitively ruled out for the US team. “Having a driver in common with Ferrari would probably be the best way to operate. Reservists are frequently there in case of illness or other emergencies with the security level achieved. The need for a reservist is probably not as important as you think. We don't have any Nascar For example ", added the co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing.
