Haas: brakes will be a priority for 2018

If Haas F1 Team made a good entry into F1 last year, the American team is constantly struggling with major brake problems. The Gene Haas structure came to alternate between Brembo and Carbone Industrie brakes without however succeeding in obtaining significant improvements.

The priority for Haas F1 Team is therefore to resolve this problem at a time when the development of the car of 2018 has begun.

" It is the objective, confirmed Günther Steiner on ESPN F1. We need to know what direction to take next year because this problem is old. We are currently trying too hard and wasting too much energy solving something that shouldn't be a problem. We are getting closer to the solution but we don't have it yet. »

“Perhaps we should have reacted sooner. We waited a bit hoping to resolve this issue, confessed Günther Steiner. A larger team would have found a solution more quickly. We fell behind schedule because the supplier we wanted to work with was too busy due to the change in equipment required with the new regulations. It is certain that they supported their existing customer teams better than us, but we should have been more aggressive in our approach. »

Haas F1 Team is in 7th place in the Constructors' Championship, five points behind Toro Rosso.
