The ball of presentations of F1 2023 is finally here! Haas was the first team to take the plunge and reveal its colors for 2023. Like last year, simple computer renderings were revealed. No VF-23 therefore but just the livery of the American team affixed to the car 2022.

The digital renderings highlight a mixture of red, white... but especially black on the livery of the VF-23, in the colors of the new title sponsor MoneyGram and the Haas team. The MoneyGram logo appears prominently on the engine cover and front spoiler. A very different livery from that used in 2022, which was then essentially white.

Haas aims for mid-grid in 2023

With a new title sponsor and a very experienced crew, Haas hopes to finally break the glass ceiling that has handicapped it for several seasons in order to climb the hierarchy. The objective: to stay regularly and sustainably in the middle of the grid.

To do this, the American team called on the “veteran” Nico Hulkenberg (35 years old) alongside Kevin Magnussen (30 years old), author of a sensational pole position in Brazil last year. The duo, renowned for their altercations in the past, will have the task of doing better than the 2022 season where Haas finished in 8th place among the constructors with 37 points.

“I was very pleased to welcome MoneyGram as title partner for the 2023 season and beyond, and it is exciting to see our first livery revealed together as MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, rejoiced Gene Haas, president of the eponymous team. We begin a new season buoyed by the team's strong performances last year and the return to points finishes. The aim for the 2023 season is naturally to do this more regularly and with Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hülkenberg I am confident we have a pair of experienced drivers capable of delivering those points on Sunday. »

First shakedown on February 11

Still with Günther Steiner at the helm, the team based in Banbury (United Kingdom) will still count on technical support and engine supply from Ferrari. “I obviously share everyone's enthusiasm around the presentation of the livery, particularly because it is a 'checkpoint' in the pre-season schedule. We're getting closer to doing the thing we really want to do, which is go running.", underlined the boss of the Haas team.

“I like the livery, it's definitely a more modern look, which is appropriate as we enter a new era with MoneyGram as title partner, added the Italian director. It's an exciting time of year (…) but our attention is focused on getting the VF-23 on track and preparing for the upcoming season. We definitely have something to build on last year's performance. The whole organization has worked hard to get to this stage and obviously, with Kevin (Magnussen) and Nico (Hülkenberg), we have two talents who have proven that they can score points. I can't wait to get started. »

Haas will make its first tests of the VF-23 at the Silverstone circuit on Saturday February 11 for a first shakedown. Official pre-season testing will take place from February 23 to 25 at the Bahrain International Circuit.
