Haas cautious about his real level

Fifth and sixth at the start of the Australian Grand Prix after a remarkable performance in qualifying at Albert Park in Melbourne, both Haas VF-18 de Kevin Magnussen et Romain Grosjean were unable to see the finish following a problem with the wheel attachment at the stops of the two drivers.

An opportunity to score important points in the championship for the American team, which nevertheless intends to confirm its encouraging start to the season this weekend in Bahrain. But the Kannapolis (North Carolina) clan remains cautious about its position in the hierarchy.

“I would say I'm still cautiously optimistic, admits Günther Steiner, Team Principal of Haas F1 team. I'm never going to be arrogant and say, "We'll do the same thing in Bahrain," but, of course, we'll try to do it.

The car showed speed in Barcelona and Melbourne. There will be a time, perhaps after China, when we will really know where we are.

One race does not make a complete season. We must be humble and continue to work hard. We have to try to do like we did in Australia, like we did in the trials: don't lose focus, keep moving forward, and I'm sure we'll get similar results. »

In the last two editions of the Bahrain Grand Prix, Haas F1 Team scored points thanks to Romain Grosjean, fifth in 2016 and eighth last year. On this track where the American team achieved its best result in F1, hopes of points are therefore high for the VF18 this Sunday.
