Haas satisfied with current compromise for 2021

Since the arrival of Haas en Formula 1 in 2016, its close technical partnership with Ferrari is the subject of more or less veiled and virulent criticism from some of its mid-grid competitors.

Indeed, the US team purchases, completely legally, numerous parts from the Italian manufacturer of Maranello, in particular the entire rear axle (powertrain, transmission, and suspension) of its car. This affiliated stable model, Renault would like to change it by 2021 by taking advantage of the regulatory big bang which must reshuffle the cards of F1.

From the Barcelona paddock where the discipline launches its European campaign this weekend, Guenther Steiner revealed that the next regulations risk changing Haas' modus operandi without breaking its model.

« The last proposal I saw was from February, I don't know if there have been any changes since then but this one suits me, declared the team principal of the US team.

Life is about compromise. You can't have it all, but neither can your competitors. I find the proposal from the FIA and the FOM fair. We can continue in F1. The other teams should be happy because they thought we had an advantage and achieved their goals.

The proposed changes will not break our model. But there are 10 stables in the paddock and I told the others: if you want us to leave, say it openly and we will leave. You can't take everything away from us and make things difficult for us without looking at your own situation.

That said, you will notice that there are almost no reviews since the last proposal. Afterwards, between the discussions, the presentations, and the final settlement, there is always a world ».

Difficult to contradict the Italian manager on this point.
