Haas prepares for “a difficult year”

Before a year 2022 marked by the major overhaul of the technical regulations, Haas F1 Team will face a serious upheaval of its interior lines in 2021. After the departure of the experienced duo Romain Grosjean - Kevin Magnussen, the Kannapolis (North Carolina) team will welcome two rookies with Mick Schumacher et Nikita mazepin.

A learning campaign for the tandem, which will have a certain amplitude left by Team Principal Günther Steiner in their process of discovering the premier category.

The latter remains more cautious about expectations for the 2021 season. “We are preparing for a difficult year, specifies the manager on the F1 website. You always work to get the best, but you also have to be realistic and not dream that all of a sudden everything will be fine.

We struggled last year and the car is basically the same, so why would it be much better? We know our performance may not be the best, but there is a lot of work going on.

It’s more like being back in 2015 because we took such a big step back last year, we have to take two steps forward. »

With the added bonus of the need to shift the team's resources towards the 2022 project, on which Simone Resta, arrived fromAlfa Romeo, will have an important role.
