Buried hatchet at Force India?

Scheduled in the same press conference session, the two drivers Force India were only separated by Sebastian Vettel who, for once, has not crystallized the questions around him. Esteban Ocon et Sergio Pérez explain that the incident is behind them and that it is time to end the tension.

"We are very close in the race, comments the Mexican. There have been a few incidents during the last few races. We had a long face to face conversation this morning. Everyone on the team has their own opinion. But the most important thing is that we can move forward. We can't afford to lose any more points. I'm sure this won't happen again."

Same speech for Esteban Ocon who had already called for calm earlier in the week on social networks. Everything gives the impression that a new page in the collaboration between the two pilots is being turned.

« We always fight for the last tenths, in qualifying and in the race. It's still very close between us. What is past is in the past. We can't change it so we might as well move forward. We talked this morning and it's time to forget all this, work for the team and behave like professionals. »

Asked about the question, Sebastian Vettel returned to the similar scenario he experienced for five years at Red Bull in the company of Mark Webber where incidents during the race ranged from collisions in 2010 to refusal to follow instructions in 2013.

« I don't think there's any point of no return, admits the four-time world champion. On the track, there are times when everything does not go as we would like. It's even more intense with your teammate. We want to stay ahead. Afterwards, the team doesn't care about the driver, they see their two cars.

“But as for a point of no return, I don’t think it exists. Today, for example, I get along very well with Mark. We sometimes talk about the past and we can laugh about it. »

Sergio Pérez also confirmed that Force India will issue instructions if the situation becomes too tense between the two drivers and that his instructions will be respected by both parties.
