Hamilton knocks out competition in Singapore

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) made a big splash at the Singapore GP. Taking advantage of crash at the start of the race contested on a wet track involving the drivers Ferrari Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen, as well as Max Verstappen (Red Bull), the Briton took the lead against Daniel Ricciardo (Redbull).

Although track conditions subsequently improved and despite three safety car interventions, Lewis Hamilton remained untouchable and scored his 60th victory in F1, his seventh of the season, and brings his lead in the Championship to 28 points. Mercedes achieves an almost perfect result with Valtteri Bottas on the third step of the podium behind Daniel Ricciardo and now has a 102-unit lead over Scuderia Ferrari.

Carlos Sainz Jr. (Toro Rosso) took fourth place and achieved his best result in F1, just like Jolyon Palmer (Renault) and Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren) who rank behind Sergio Pérez (Force India) fifth. The Spaniard, the Briton and the Belgian achieve their best result in F1.

The top ten is completed by Lance stroll (Williams) which precedes the French Romain Grosjean (Haas) and Esteban Ocon (ForceIndia).

Only 12 drivers reached the finish line. Nico Hulkenberg (Renault), in contention for a podium, encountered mechanical problems, as did Fernando Alonso (McLaren) suffered the after-effects of contact in the first lap accident. Kevin Magnussen (Haas) lost its MGU-K. Marcus Ericsson (Sauber) and Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) hit the wall.
