Hamilton: Bottas is in the title race

Lewis Hamilton saved a 4th place at the Austrian GP after starting from 8th position on the Red Bull Ring at Spielberg following a gearbox change. The pilot Mercedes saw his direct rival for the title Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) increase its lead in the Championship to 20 points.

“The car performed very well. I was able to attack throughout the race giving everything, comments Lewis Hamilton. I don't think I could have done better in the end even if I was perhaps a little too nice to Daniel (Ricciardo) by giving it too much space. I won't do it anymore. »

Lewis Hamilton especially observes the progress of his teammate Valtteri Bottas returned to 15 points from second place in the Championship after his victory.

“Valtteri did a very good job all weekend and he deserves this victory, assures Lewis Hamilton. He is only 15 points behind me and he is clearly in the title race. I'm looking forward to Silverstone (Great Britain). I'll have a few days to turn the page on this weekend. I can't wait to get back to my audience and start off on the right foot. I hope I can use Silverstone as a springboard for the second part of the season. »
