Hamilton: “It was double or nothing”

If you feel like you want to take the Mercedes revealed themselves at the qualifications of the Azerbaijan GP in Baku, it is Lewis Hamilton who impressed the most. The three-time world champion, in difficulty during testing, set the lap record with a time of 1'40''593 where he beat his teammate by around half a second Valtteri Bottas.

“It was double or nothing. If there was ever a time to be perfect, now is the time, commented Lewis Hamilton at a press conference. My first time (in Q3) was very good until I made a mistake in the last corner. I told myself not to want too much, but that's obviously what I did. »

Lewis Hamilton was the first pleasantly surprised by his return to the front after being behind during testing.

“We weren't able to put everything together to set a good lap while the others managed it and I had to push as hard as possible. Valtteri also had a superb lap”, underlined Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton won the 66th pole of his career in F1, this time beating Ayrton Senna's record after equaling it in Montreal (Canada) on June 10.
