Hamilton: “It’s not the end of the world”

The first day of testing Lewis Hamilton at the Canadian GP could have been idyllic, but the Briton went off the track after being trapped in the rain which fell on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal.

If the pilot Mercedes was the fastest during the two sessions, especially after setting the reference time in 1'15"988 with the super soft tyres, his switch to grooved tires did not bring the same success.

“The end of the day did not meet our expectations, but it was still rather positive”, explained the double world champion. “I made a few mistakes by pushing too much and going on the curbs in the last chicane… I aquaplaned in turn 10. »

Despite this accident, Lewis Hamilton remains positive for the weekend. “It may not have been a good idea to go out, but it didn't slow down our progress. I'm fine and it looks like only the front wing was damaged. This is not the end of the world ", added the Briton.
