Hamilton champion in Abu Dhabi if…

With 12 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 27, Nico Rosberg has the cards in hand to win a first world title. But Lewis Hamilton's three consecutive victories obtained in Austin (Texas), Mexico and Sao Paulo (Brazil) allow the Briton to maintain pressure on the Championship leader.

Lewis Hamilton will have to count on a poor performance from Nico Rosberg to hope to win a fourth coronation, but the slightest misstep could cost his teammate dearly.

If Lewis Hamilton wins, he will have to hope that his rival finishes beyond 3rd place. By finishing 2nd, the Briton will be crowned if the German ranks at least 7th. With 3rd place, Rosberg will lose the title if he finishes beyond 8th place.

Lewis Hamilton will have to at least finish in the first four positions to maintain a chance of the title. A 5th place will see Nico Rosberg crowned even if the latter retires.

In 2015, Nico Rosberg won 8 seconds ahead of Lewis Hamilton after taking pole. The two pilots Mercedes did the same tire choices for the final.
