Hamilton concedes defeat amid poor tactics

The level of the fight for the 2021 Drivers' title is such that a second place is seen as a failure, or at least a setback. Near the North Sea, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) suffered a defeat on the lands of his rival Max Verstappen (Red Bull), winner of the Dutch Grand Prix Sunday September 5.

The Briton, qualified second alongside the Dutch hero, tried to apply incessant pressure, but the switch to a two-stop tactic did not bear fruit, the strategists of Red Bull not having fallen into the trap.

“Max was just going too fast, it was impossible to catch him. Their car is really on another level right now, they received an upgrade recently. For our part, I don't think the tactic was optimal. We will try to learn lessons from this for the rest of the season. »

The seven-time world champion has in fact complained on numerous occasions about the state of his tires and the poor timing of his passage through his pit, signs which do not deceive as to the intensity of the fight he is waging to clinch a potential eighth crown in 2021.

Left behind by six points after this event, Lewis Hamilton made up for it by scoring the point for the best lap in the race during the final pass.
