Lewis Hamilton proved that the McLaren MP4-27 had an impressive pace by taking pole position after qualifying for the first two Grands Prix of the season, in Melbourne then at Sepang. This time, however, the Briton will not be able to start from pole, since he received a five-place penalty on the starting grid following a gearbox change.
“Obviously, hearing that we have a problem is never pleasant to wait for, Hamilton explains. But it doesn't affect our performance. We are still at the same level so we have considerable chances of victory. Plus, I like fighting in the peloton. This is what I preferred when I was younger. Starting five places further back simply means that there will be a battle and I like that. » Confidence is therefore at its peak on the Woking side. After three podiums in two races (Button's victory in Australia and Hamilton?s two third places), the McLaren drivers are once again hoping to garner maximum points.
