Hamilton disappointed by his retirement at Sepang

The Malaysian Grand Prix marks a turning point in the Championship with the retirement of Lewis Hamilton. The three-time world champion seemed well on his way to closing the gap on Nico Rosberg by dominating the race and taking advantage of a spin from his rival at the start, but the driver Mercedes retired on the 41st lap following an engine failure, leaving the victory to Daniel Ricciardo.

“I can't believe I'm still the one having engine problems when there are eight in the race, lamented Lewis Hamilton in the Kuala Lumpur paddock. Something is wrong but I can't do anything about it. Mercedes built 43 engines and mine is the one that explodes. »

Lewis Hamilton is now 23 points behind his teammate Nico Rosberg with five Grands Prix remaining in the season.

“I have to move forward. We did everything we could this weekend. It was also a new engine with which I had only competed in one race. We will have to be good in the next five events. But who knows what my engines will bring me? I have to stay focused and hope for better times”, added the Briton.

Lewis Hamilton's retirement also prevented Mercedes F1 to win the Manufacturers' title at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
