Hamilton angry with commissioners: “They’re trying to stop me”

What should have been a quiet Sunday and synonymous with a record for Lewis Hamilton turned into a nightmare. And this even before the race. The Briton did not carry out his departure procedure at the authorized location and the FIA was less lenient with him.

After investigation, the race commissioners imposed two penalties of 5 seconds each on the main person concerned which logically cost him the victory on Russian soil. A double sanction that the Englishman did not really understand.

« I need to go back, see what the rules say and figure out what I did wrong “, he blurted into the Sky Sports microphone before putting it on again.

« I'm not sure any driver was double penalized for something so ridiculous. I didn't put anyone in danger. I have done this procedure many times on the circuits in recent years and I have never been criticized for anything but that is how it is ».

And when asked if these sanctions were too severe, Lewis Hamilton did not hold back: “ Obviously and that was to be expected. They (the race commissioners) are trying to stop me. But there is no problem. I keep my head down and stay focused. We will see what happens next ».

Third in Sochi, Lewis Hamilton is still leading the world championship. He is now 44 points ahead of his runner-up Valtteri Bottas, winner of the Grand Prix.
