Hamilton stayed in the garage at Barcelona testing

Lewis Hamilton did not leave the garage this morning where the track was artificially wet (250 liters of water spilled) in Barcelona. There Mercedes W08 suffered from an electrical problem preventing the Briton from taking part in the session and the wet conditions forced the star-studded team to wait until the very end of the morning to launch Valtteri Bottas perform a flying lap on slick tires.

The tests carried out on a wet track limited the running of the teams who preferred to wait until the end of the session to perform in better conditions and set interesting times.

Kimi Räikkönen was the fastest of the morning at the wheel of the Ferrari SF70H credited with a time of 1'22''305 achieved on soft tires. The Finn ranked ahead of the Haas VF17 of Romain Grosjean and McLaren MCL32 from Stoffel Vandoorne who preferred to use super soft tires.

Max Verstappen managed to climb to 4th place with the medium tires fitted on the Red Bull RB13 The Dutchman precedes the Force India VJM10 of Sergio Pérez, the Renault de Nico Hulkenberg and the Sauber of Antonio Giovinazzi. Valtteri Bottas barely had time to set the last time on the timesheet.

Toro Rosso also avoided the track by only allowing Daniil Kvyat to complete an installation lap aboard the STR12. The Williams FW40 will not take to the track this Thursday March 2 following the exit from the track of Lance stroll occurred the day before.

After deciding not to wet the track again this afternoon, Pirelli has finally decided to reconsider its choice and will wet the Catalan circuit again.
