Hamilton believes he ran out of tires at the end of the race

Beyond the fifth victory of the season for Sebastian Vettel, the rise of Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) at the Brazilian Grand Prix will remain as the highlight of the penultimate round of the 2017 championship.

Forced to start from the pits after an accident in qualifying, the Briton started the event with a car equipped with a revised Power Unit and a new gearbox, and a desire to achieve the best possible result.

Despite all his efforts, the world champion failed at the foot of the podium, unable to exceed the Ferrari by Kimi Räikkönen at the end of the race. The star driver provides an initial analysis of the final laps of the Grand Prix.

« I messed up yesterday and put myself in the worst possible position, underlines Hamilton, cited by Sky Sports. I was fast enough to win the race from pole and I didn't do it. The work was much more difficult.

Waking up this morning my goal was just to make up for yesterday's mistake and really make the team proud and try to get the points back. I tried to get back to third place, but I ended up running out of tires at the end. »

Hamilton was also delighted with the sensations felt on track with the fights in the middle of the pack, which brought back good memories. « It was fun. It made me think of my years of karting when I always started at the back...

But I enjoyed the race and I enjoyed the battle. I hope this continues to show me, but also everyone, that I still have the sacred fire. I am still young at heart and there are still many races to go. »
