Hamilton and Mercedes frustrated after Spain

They had been dazzling on Saturday, during the qualifying session for the Spanish Grand Prix, by offering himself the first line. THE Mercedes by Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton On the other hand, they were unable to do anything, on Sunday race, to materialize their good performances. “It’s never fun when you go backwards”, explains the 2008 world champion. “We changed our strategy during the race to four pit stops, but I suffered with a lack of grip and poor balance throughout the race and we were never able to get the tires to work. I was sliding on all four wheels. I was riding on eggshells, really. It made no difference whether I went quickly or slowly. It was very, very strange, one of the weirdest feelings I've had in a long time.", details the British pilot.

“The comparison between our competitiveness in qualifying and in the race is particularly disappointing”, underlines for his part Ross Brawn, the main team of Mercedes. “We need to identify the key to understanding why we lose performance on Sunday afternoons and find the right solutions to improve”. “This Sunday’s race showed a similar pattern to what we saw with our team this past season: we have a fast car but one that overworks the tires”, adds Toto wolff, the executive director. “It’s very clear that we need to find a good compromise between Saturday and Sunday performance and it’s going to take a lot of work to get there.”
