Sa Mercedes W12 mounted on the chassis Valtteri Bottas, Lewis Hamilton was not satisfied after the free practice sessions at Paul Ricard.

Looking for new settings in order to attack qualifying in the best possible way, the Englishman did what he could by setting the 2nd time just over two tenths behind. Max Verstappen, pole sitter of the day.

«  It was a really tough weekend for us, he admitted before delving into the subject. For me also mentally. We have had to rack our brains to find the right settings on the car since the first session. But overall I haven't been happy behind the wheel of the car since the start of the weekend. I was not comfortable during the tests and Red Bull is one or two tenths faster on long stints ».

Although disappointed, Lewis Hamilton, who points to a gap in a straight line with the Red Bulls equipped with new engines, wants to be optimistic as the Sunday meeting approaches. “ My car is on another level now, he says.

So I remain hopeful and I will obviously do everything I can. I am second on the grid and there is a chance to fight until the first corner. It will also be interesting on the strategy side with who knows the rain perhaps ". An appointment has been made.
