Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) concluded his Hungarian weekend in the best possible way. After a day spent understanding the overheating of the tires in the sun on Friday, the Briton easily won pole the next day, then dominated the Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon.
The four-time world champion made profound set-up changes on his car during the sessions. « I wasn't at all comfortable with the balance of the car in FP1, I radically changed that afterwards. I tried to continue in this direction in FP2, but I realized that I was going on the wrong path. I went back and tried something else.”he explained.

This adjustment work continued on Saturday. “We drove a little in FP3 but the car was still not perfect. Then it rained. I didn't change the settings but I knew Valtteri had a good performance on Friday and we weren't too far apart in terms of settings. »
The tire performance was much more consistent on Sunday. “The ultra soft ones lasted longer than I expected. But with the tender ones, which had not caused me a problem on Friday, I was in difficulty. Then I caught up with some latecomers and balanced the car better. »
What a beautiful day it's been! I'm so proud of the hard work, vision and determination by our team. A huge, huge thank you to everyone. Challenges were definitely presented to us this weekend and we overcame them together @MercedesAMGF1 #HungarianGP #F1 @latimages pic.twitter.com/402taEflvK

Never worried about Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton extended his lead to 24 points on Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) in the general classification, the fruit of serious and constant tactics. “We know that Ferrari has the advantage in race pace, but to win a championship you are not enough to be fast, you have to know how to manage the different parameters of the season. We have the performance to progress further. We must have all the cards to beat Ferrari when they are not at their best. »
