Hamilton: “There will still be ups and downs”

By winning in Germany before the summer break, Lewis Hamilton increased his lead at the top of the general classification to 19 points over his teammate Nico Rosberg, thus concluding a first part of the season marked by his return to the German driver in the championship, after having been more than 40 points behind after Barcelona.

The Briton will approach the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend in a favorable financial and mental situation. “The first half of the season has been somewhat of a roller coaster, so it's good to be in the position I'm in with more than half the races behind us, admits Hamilton. I'm feeling energized and ready after a few weeks of rest, so let's hope everyone has had a good rest and let's fight. »

The pilot Mercedes However, remains cautious about the progress of the next events, as he could receive, possibly as early as this weekend, penalties on the grid in the event of the use of a new turbo or MGU-H. With five of these items already used before heading to Belgium, the threat hangs over the former McLaren driver.

"There will be more ups and downs to come, I'm sure, underlines the championship leader. But given what we have shown, myself and the team, this gives me great confidence. »

Hamilton will try to repeat his performance from last year in Belgium, where the driver of the star brand won, thus regaining victory after a complicated Hungarian event in the Mercedes clan.
