Hamilton: “I like these races where you have to stay on the attack”

Lewis Hamilton had a moment of doubt, but the final result of the Hungarian GP will have proven the strategists of Mercedes. Thanks to a second surprise stop to put on medium tires, the five-time world champion managed to resume Max Verstappen (Red Bull) 3 laps from the finish.

" I feel tired, admitted the seven-time winner of the Hungarian GP. I can only thank the team for always believing in me and pushing me to surpass myself. We've been together for 7 years and we still have the same energy. I like these races where we have to stay on the attack. I had to do qualifying laps during my last stint. »

Lewis Hamilton had managed to threaten the Dutchman's Red Bull earlier in the race, but the Briton had to retreat initially to preserve his brakes.

“I had to protect them to prevent them from breaking, confirmed the one who celebrated his 81st victory in F1. Max defended himself very well and I didn't know if I was going to be able to catch him after my second stop. My team continued to support and motivate me. I finally made it. »

Lewis Hamilton goes on vacation with an outrageous 62-point lead over his teammate Valtteri Bottas after signing his 8th success of the season.
