Hamilton: “I was on my trajectory”

By overtaking Nico Rosberg on the last lap of the Austrian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton not only took the victory but also dropped the German to fourth following contact between the drivers Mercedes.

If the leader of the Championship, penalized by ten seconds for the collision, assures that it was the Briton who hit him, the three-time world champion places the responsibility on the German.

“Nico made a mistake in the first corner, biting on the curb and going wide. I got close, he blocked the inside and I took the outside, explained the man who won the Austrian GP for the first time. I was on my trajectory and he was in a blind spot. I went very wide when turning and I was on the upper part of the track when he hit me. »

“My team explained to me that he had a problem with his brakes. Maybe it is. I'm not sure what happened. I just got back on track as quickly as possible.”, added the Briton who came back to 11 points behind his teammate.

Lewis Hamilton's maneuver caused boos from part of the public when the winner appeared on the podium, with a good part of the public also supporting Nico Rosberg.

“It’s obviously not ideal,” admitted the Mercedes driver. It’s one of the most beautiful countries we visit and it’s not nice to have this response when you win. I’m here to win races.”, underlined Lewis Hamilton.
