Hamilton: 'I rode like an idiot'

After four poles in a row achieved since the British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton experienced particularly disappointing qualifying at Monza since the driver Mercedes didn't even manage to qualify for the final session. The 2008 world champion made a mistake by going out into the gravel trap on his first flying lap and then found himself stuck in traffic. The Briton will finally start from 12th place between the Lotuses of Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean who also missed out on their qualifications despite summer conditions.

If Lewis Hamilton confirms having been embarrassed by Adrian Sutil's Force India, he doesn't even hold it against him. “It doesn’t change anything anyway. I should have qualified for the last session in my previous round.", commented the Mercedes driver at the end of the session. “It was generally a very bad qualifying session. I didn't even manage to do a decent lap in Q2. I just drove like an idiot. This is my worst performance in a long time. I'm sorry for the team. »

Lewis Hamilton especially sees his title hopes fading away, the Championship leader having won a new pole on the Monza circuit. The rainy weather expected for tomorrow could nevertheless redistribute the cards.
