Hamilton: “I'm ready for the fight, that's what the fans want to see”

For once, in Baku (Azerbaijan), the Mercedes did not dominate the debates during free practice on Friday. Lewis Hamilton et Valtteri Bottas were relegated behind the two Ferraris during the second session of the day.

“It was a strange day, recognizes the Briton, due to the cancellation of EL1 due to an unscrewed manhole cover. The Ferrari are clearly very fast, it seems that they are slightly faster than us. We need to investigate where on the route we are giving up time.

It is unlikely that we will find the seven tenths that separate us from Ferrari (during the night from Friday to Saturday. Editor’s note) but we are doing everything possible to take the car in the right direction”, continues Lewis Hamilton, who almost went into the background during an overtake on Kevin Magnussen (Haas).

Certainly, the pace of the Silver Arrows in short relay fishing, but their performance in long relay is more promising. “Our pace over time is a little better,” admits the five-time world champion. It will be a great fight tomorrow (Saturday, during qualifying. Editor’s note). I'm ready for the fight, that's what the fans want to see. » We cannot contradict him on this point.
