Hamilton: “The fight will continue”
Lewis Hamilton was uncompromising at the Italian GP, dominating the race without being worried. THE Mercedes were above the fray as evidenced by their double and the gap of more than half a minute with Sebastian Vettel at the arrival. The new leader of the Championship does not expect to dominate so blatantly in the next events.
“We are now heading to a track (Singapore, September 17) where Ferrari should be fast with the aero downforce. The fight will continue, assured Lewis Hamilton in the Monza paddock. Sebastian has led the Championship for a long time and it's a wonderful feeling to finally be in front after so many ups and downs. »
“Ferrari could be a little faster, especially on circuits where the aero downforce will be at full throttle, added Lewis Hamilton. They were exceptionally fast in Hungary during the qualifying rounds. It will continue to be very tight between us. In any case, the car was fantastic today. These last two races (with the Belgian GP) have been very good for the team. »
Lewis Hamilton now has a 3-point lead over Sebastian Vettel with 7 races remaining in the season. The gap is clearer in the Manufacturers' Championship with a 62-unit lead to Mercedes' advantage.
