Hamilton: the pace was intense with Rosberg

Lewis Hamilton signed his 4th victory of the season by winning the Canadian GP after starting from pole in front of his teammate Nico Rosberg. The double world champion took a good advantage in the first stint on the super soft tires, but he was no longer able to lose the second Mercedes after his visit to the pits where he started again on soft tires.

“I am delighted to regain victory after a complicated race in Monaco”, commented Lewis Hamilton during the podium ceremony at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal. « The balance of the car was not perfect and I had to work hard to resist Nico (Rosberg). I don't know what happened, but the tension between us was very high. »

Lewis Hamilton nevertheless consistently managed to maintain a lead of more than a second over his biggest rival for the title to stay out of reach of an attack. The Briton has gained 7 points from the German who is now 17 points behind.
