Hamilton: the perfect lap would not have been enough

Mercedes was further behind than in Barcelona in qualifying for the Monaco GP. If the W09s seemed less efficient than the Red Bull and Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton was still able to secure third position on the grid behind Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari). The Championship leader will also benefit from being on the right side of the grid unlike his German rival.

“I was quite happy with my first time in Q3, but I lost time in the last two sectors and I'm obviously not happy about that, commented the Mercedes driver. It wouldn't have been enough to take pole anyway, but it might have allowed me to make the difference to take second position. »

Lewis Hamilton can remain confident, having won twice on the Rock after starting from third row.

“It will be interesting to observe how the different tire choices will impact performance, added the Briton. I can't say what Monaco will offer us tomorrow, but I know that my goal is to take Daniel's place (Ricciardo). "

Lewis Hamilton remains on two consecutive victories in Azerbaijan and Spain and is 17 points ahead of Sebastian Vettel.
